GRENADA
Known as the "Spice Island", Grenada is an independent, three-island nation that includes Carriacou, the largest of the Grenadines, and Petite Martinique. Grenada is imbued with the fragrance of various spices and exotic fruits. It has more spices per square mile than any other place in the world.
Beefed up by financial aid from the United States, this island of some 100,000 people has revived a sagging tourist industry. The present government of Grenada is regarded as U.S.-friendly. Grenada has two distinct seasons, dry and rainy.
